Assignment2 MAPS (week4)

Assignment 2
Design two versions of a pedestrian map of the centre of Delft in such a way, that it influences the behaviour of the users. This assignment should be executed in groups of four.

On the map the recommended walking route is clearly presented. This route starts and ends at Delft central station. The course it follows is:
Delft central station, Westvest, Phoenixstraat, St. Agathaplein, H. Geest Kerkhof, Choorstraat, Vrouw Jutteland, Vrouwenrecht, Oude Langendijk, Burgwal, Beestenmarkt, Kruisstraat, Pijnepoort, Bastiaansplein, Vesteplein, Breestraat, Barbarasteeg, Delft central station.

DesignAfter some deliberation it has been agreed by the town and the shopkeepers that there will be two versions of the map alternating every day.

Limiting conditions
• The use of text on the map is not allowed, with the exception of names of buildings, museums, streets and squares (all in English).
• The use of de 'Route line' itself as indicator for direction is not allowed.
• The use of arrows or other arrowlike symbols as indicator for direction is not allowed.
• The names 'Museum route' and 'shopping route' should not be used on the map. You can refer to these routes by route K and route P.
• There will not be a key to symbols. All visual elements should speak for themselves.
• The subtle but effective differences have to be based on the theory presented in Colin Ware's book.

Otherwise all kinds of static visualizations are allowed.
